Properties provide drug-production and processing capacity in their own city. A property elsewhere does not add slots to your current city.

The catalog contains additional types. City modifiers affect actual prices and slots. Read the current quote rather than treating base values as universal prices.
Production jobs are tied to a property. Processing capacity is pooled across properties in that city. Many production slots do not automatically mean an equal number of processing slots.
Expand around your bottleneck. Extra production can leave material awaiting processing if processing capacity is insufficient.
Normal resale returns 90% of the original purchase price, rounded down. First collect or cancel production jobs on that property and processing jobs in the relevant city. Completed but uncollected jobs can still block a sale.
An upgrade keeps the property's identity and credits resale value against the replacement price. Unlike selling, upgrading can keep jobs running if the new capacity is sufficient. A replacement unable to hold existing production jobs is rejected.
Properties count toward net worth. Overdue Loan Shark debt can force liquidation and remove production jobs attached to seized properties, so include repayment needs in your expansion budget.
