Careers turn Focus into work shifts, income and long-term progression. Your active career supplies tier-based modifiers, while Mastery unlocks a permanent perk that survives switching tracks.
| Career | Main active benefits |
|---|---|
| Sports | Training gains, gym upgrade discounts and lower Heat gain |
| Logistics | Drug XP, NPC buyer capacity and lower Heat gain |
| Hospitality | Lower Heat gain and drug bust risk |
| Law | Lower Heat gain, jail duration and drug bust risk |
| Finance | Higher shift income and lower Heat gain |
| Medicine | Drug yield, drug XP and shorter hospital stays |
| Security | Crime success bonus, lower drug bust risk and shorter jail stays |
Benefits scale with the selected track's tier. XP is stored separately per track, so switching does not erase progress.
A base shift costs 15 Focus, lasts five minutes and awards 25 Career XP before applicable modifiers. Work slots limit how many unfinished shifts run at once. Milestone upgrades can add slots or shorten shifts.
Collect finished shifts to receive rewards. Collect All handles them together. Rewards belong to the track stored on a shift; switching later does not convert that job to your new career.
Pay grows with tier and differs by track. The base formula is $200 multiplied by the track's pay factor and by two for each internal tier step. Applicable upgrades, secondary-stat effects, Finance modifiers, family tax, Capitol tax and default debt can affect received income.
Sports emphasizes Labor and Charisma; Logistics and Medicine emphasize Labor and Leadership; Hospitality emphasizes Charisma and Labor; Law and Finance emphasize Leadership and Charisma; Security emphasizes Shooting and Labor.
Displayed Tier 10 unlocks a permanent Mastery perk. Progress several tracks over time and keep each unlocked perk. Choose an active career for today's activities and a Mastery target for your longer plan.
