The Chop Shop is a city business that earns income from vehicle sales. Its current gameplay is tied to Garage sales; it does not provide a separate player action for dismantling a car into usable parts.
Sell an owned vehicle through Garage. The sale value depends on the vehicle model and damage. A vehicle committed to an active race cannot be sold until that restriction ends.
Selling removes the vehicle from your ownership. Family tax can reduce the sale proceeds, and outstanding Loan Shark debt can garnish the incoming cash. Compare the quoted sale value with the vehicle's usefulness for racing or travel before confirming.
The seller does not need to own the Chop Shop.
The player-owned Chop Shop receives 10% of the gross vehicle sale value when a Garage sale credits that city's business. Under the current rules, this owner credit is added separately; it is not an additional 10% deduction from the seller's payout.
For example, a $100,000 gross vehicle sale credits $10,000 to the Chop Shop's accumulated income. The seller's own family tax and debt determine their final cash receipt separately.
The business credit uses the selling player's current city. Income depends on actual vehicle sales rather than a guaranteed daily payment.
Purchase an available Chop Shop through the City map. You must meet the family district-control requirement, have the purchase funds and own no other business. See Businesses.
An owner can view accumulated earnings and use Collect on the Chop Shop screen. The amount remains separate from personal cash until collected. Debt garnishment can affect the cash received on collection.
A city-operated Chop Shop has no player owner to collect its earnings. Another player's shop cannot be collected by a visitor.
The Chop Shop's description refers to stripping stolen cars, but there is currently no parts inventory, dismantling recipe or vehicle-upgrade action in this business. Use Garage for selling and Racing for applicable repairs.
